Preaching Today

Today as I preached the Lord spoke to me about being willing to suffer and change around things in my life for the sake of Christ. Since the beginning of the year I have been preaching through a series I have titled "Interviews With Men Worth Imitating." I didn't plan to have a theme through the series but clearly as I have worked through several men humility is a key factor in the lives of great men of the faith. They are humble in regards to their abilities and they are bold in their faith toward Christ.

TWO PRINCIPLES OF CHRISTIAN LIVING By WATCHMAN NEE

I read this article some time ago and it has come across my path again. It has very much helped me and I thought I would share it here. The following article was written by a Chinese Christian named Watchman Nee. Nee’s most famous book is “The Normal Christian Life” which is a classic collection of his sermons.

The following article is a record of a message given on a Lord’s Day by Watchman Nee. It was original published in The Present Testimony, Issue No, 37, January 1, 1951.

2 Corinthians 5:7

7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Matthew 17:1–8

1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

Genesis 2:9

9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:16–17

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (The tree of knowledge of good and evil can also be translated, “the tree of knowledge of right and wrong.”)

First Baptism Service Scheduled for Sunday

Just finished preparing to preach for Sunday and I am very excited because we will be having our first Baptism service.
I plan, Lord willing, to preach on Baptism (Water and Spiritual Baptism).

Here are the questions I intend to answer...

1. Who is Your Spiritual Family?
2. Can I Change Families?
3. What’s the Difference Between Families?
4. What Makes the Change Effective?
5. What Does Water Baptism Do?

Do you know where I'm going with each question?
